Jaime Loomis, a health care professional and small business owner, has announced her candidacy for the Sarasota City Commission At-Large seat.

She is running to bring a practical, resident-focused perspective to City Hall at a time when Sarasota families are facing rising costs, neighborhood concerns, growth pressures and questions about the future of the city’s quality of life.

“Residents are feeling the pressure,” Loomis said. “We need city leaders who listen and are focused on addressing affordability, protecting our environment, and making sure our neighborhoods remain safe, strong and vibrant.”

A graduate of Northwestern University, Loomis has built her career helping people improve their quality of life. As a Doctor of Physical Therapy, she has worked in a wide range of physical therapy settings across the country, gaining firsthand experience helping people recover from injuries, stay active and maintain their independence.

Loomis then used that experience to launch her own business focused on injury prevention, wellness and practical care for active residents. As a small business owner, she understands the importance of hard work, accountability and making decisions that have a direct impact on people’s daily lives.

Her campaign priorities include easing the cost of living, keeping neighborhoods safe, protecting Sarasota’s environment and character, and bringing a more balanced approach to growth.

Loomis said her background in health care gives her a problem-solving approach rooted in listening, assessing needs and focusing on outcomes. She said she wants to move beyond the divisions that too often slow our local government and focus instead on practical decisions that serve residents.
